Introducing the industrial revolution

In this video you have an introduction to unit 4: the industrial revolution. Although the video is adressed to children, it is very useful to get a rough idea of what the industrial revolution is: machines, factories, bourgeoisie, workers, etc.

 
After viewing the video, please copy and answwer on your notebook these questions: 

1. Locate the term «industrial revolution». How did people live before that time?
2. Who invented the steam engine? How did it work?
3. Explain the consequences for the artisans of the apparition of the steam engine. 
4. Name other applications of the steam engine.
5. In which manner did industrial revolution change the society?
6. Explain the role of bourgeoisie and proletariat in the development of industry.
7. What did workers strike for? Name the main achievements of the labour movement.
